On 13 March 2026, the first “Chronological Age” tournament took place as part of the European project Inclusive Youth Football, funded by the Erasmus+ Sport programme. 🏃⚽
The main objective of this initiative was to promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and the holistic development of young people through football.
The event brought together several affiliated clubs, namely CDN Formação, Juventude Atlântico Clube, Clube Escola O Liceu, and Clube Futebol Andorinha, involving under-12, under-13, and under-14 players, who participated in two competitive moments throughout the day.
This activity is part of the 𝗕𝗶𝗼-𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 approach, which challenges the traditional organisation based on chronological age, opening the way to new methods of enhancing the development of young athletes.
The second tournament, “Biological Age”, will take place soon, where participants will be organised according to their level of biological maturation, reinforcing principles of equity, confidence, safety, and long term participation in sports.
